Testing JavaScript Workshop Overview

Instructor: [0:00] Hey, friends. For this one, we're going to talk about some static testing tools which will eliminate an entire category of bugs from your projects, so you don't even have to worry about testing for them or anything. It's awesome. Let's take a look at this project.

[0:14] Most of the time, we're going to be hanging out in this example.js file, which you'll find here in the /src directory. We also will spend quite a bit of time in the package.json adding new dependencies and adding a bunch of scripts.

[0:25] You'll see we already have a built script here that uses Babel to output all of our src files into the /.dist directory. We're going to be adding a bunch more scripts for linting, and formatting, and type checking, so we're going to spend quite a bit of time in here.

[0:38] The way that this project is set up is we have a bunch of Git branches. If you go git branch, then you'll notice we have a bunch of tjs branches here that we're going to be working off of as we go through this material.

[0:50] Static testing tools are a really important factor in gaining confidence in your application, so I'm excited for you to take a look at some of these tools that I've grown to love.
